So, I'm challenging myself with things to do for 30 days. I may have missed the boat a bit on Sept, however, I am partaking in another fitness challenge that I am already failing at. For the month of Sept, me and the Shred girls are going to set a goal to work out 5 days a week, 3 of which are going to involve Jillian Michael's "Banish Fat Boost Metabolism" workout. Now, it's only Sept 1st, but I have just ordered the DVD which probably won't get here until the end of the week, so I will have to do some other work outs until then. I don't know where my motivation went, but it's petered out. I started running again last week, so I'm at least in the mindset. So, Sept goal is working out for 5 days (although I'm going to try to do 6, but we'll see). I'm planning on running a 10K in Oct and Dec, so that is my motivation to keep that going throughout the next couple months.
For Oct, I think I'm going to challenge myself to cook all my meals or at least have someone else cook them for me...in other words I'm not going to go out to eat or order take out. I don't do this very often anyway, and doesn't seem like it would be too much of a challenge, however, once you get busy with work/life/etc, grabbing some food on the go does seem appealing. With this challenge, I'm going to try to incorporate two new recipes a week, thus expanding my cooking experience. Champ will most likely benefit from this as well, seeing as he will eat anything especially if it's something I made. This will also work well for the Practice Thanksgiving that is set to take place during this month.
For Nov, I am going to make myself do Italian lessons at least 6 days a week. I bought an audio lesson plan off Amazon, and just need to buckle down and get it done. Hopefully by the end, I will be able to formulate some full sentences and perhaps be able to get through a basic conversation. I will not however use this on the Italian Stallion at work. No need to let him know that I am trying to speak his native tongue...that will only lead to more uncomfortable moments that I would rather not have.
For Dec, I am going to play my guitar every day. I took guitar lessons last year and then slacked off between writing my thesis and moving across the country. I need to get back into because I really miss playing a musical instrument. So, by the end of the month, I want to be able to play through a full song that isn't painstakingly slow, even if it is Rod Stewart's "Something to believe".
For Jan, I am going to do hot yoga 5 days a week. I have done this before, but not to this dedication level. I don't think I could do it 7 days a week because it take a lot of preparation to sit in a 100+ degree room for 90min, and it takes a lot out of you. I want to see if sticking to this diligently will show an improvement in my overall body appearance as well as how certain injuries improve.
That's all I have planned thus far. Again, any suggestions would be welcome. I am going to try to trade off between something exercise and food related for each month, but wouldn't be opposed to something else. I like challenges but also enjoy making lists so I can cross things off of them. I'm anal-retentive like that. Just go with it. I'm sure it will provide some interesting blog posts.

This sounds like a fab idea! I might just have to try something like this also...
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous I can't do hot yoga with you! And I was thinking you could do sex for 30 days? I mean, this would also count as some exercise, so why not kill two birds with one stone??
ReplyDeleteSex for 30 days eh? I see many benefits to this...however some lube purchases may have to be made because I don't want the snatch to chafe. This is interesting...I'll have to check with the man to see if he's on board...
ReplyDeleteI love your 30 day plans..because I'm in the same mindset. I'll try and do the "no eating out in october" with you!! I've wanted to do that for awhile, too...even just to save money. I probably eat out 2-3 times, but only on the weekends.
ReplyDeleteDo latte's count? From Dunkin Donuts?
Also...I'm willing to take on 30 days without booze. But it can't be the same month as not eating out. What do you think of February? lol..there's no fun holidays...unless we're depressed on Valentine's Day, in which case, FREE PASS TO GET HAMMERED!
Anyway, I'm so in for no eating out in october. Make a facebook page. :)
