Wikipeida: Cougar – an older woman who sexually pursues men at least eight years her junior.
If you look back at my dating track record, you will notice that I am notorious for going after younger guys. Its not as though I do this on purpose, it just happens to be that I am attracted to younger guys. Hence, why I refer to myself as a cougar in training. Now, according to the definition on Wiki, I would have to go after guys that were 8 years younger, which at this point in my life, would put my prospects at 18...I am not ok with that. First, where would we go? Unless they had a fake ID, we would be forced to sit in their parents, and bang on the pool table. I was ok with that when I was 18, but not at 26. So, I will not be dating any barely legal boys anytime soon. I am drawing the line at 21, because at least they can come to the bar with you, get you drunk enough that you won't need much convincing to sleep with them...or at least agree to some PG-13 action.
But I digress. I have consistently dated younger guys. High school boyfriend/first love: 2 years younger (1 grade below); frat guy in college: 1 year younger; college boyfriend: 5 months younger (i know this is a bit of a stretch but this was the only significant relationship I had with someone that was in the same "grade" level as me. Does not mean that maturity wise we were on the same level, but that is a whole other blog); grad school boyfriend: 2 years younger. See the trend?
There were some other sporadically in there that were older/same age. One guy I dated for a few months was a year older and went to Penn State (I should have known better). He cheated on me, and then said the following " We both knew this wouldn't go anywhere. I can't have a long term relationship with you since you don't have a degree from Penn State". He was completely serious, no joke. This just further fuels my hatred for State College (there are a select few people who attended PSU that I consider good people in SPITE of their college choice and I may disown any future children that choose to go there). Another guy I went out with a few times was talking about marriage on date 2 and how he wanted it to happen within the next year. I was 20 and not ready at all for that kind of talk.
Presently, I have a major thing for an amazing guy (Lets call him Champ) that is 4 years younger than me, which puts me in good running to be at full cougar status pending this one not working out. Which is why I consider myself a Cougar in Training. What is the appeal of the younger man? I can't really find one thing that ties all of my cradle-robbing relationships together, but it does make me think. Champ and I will be figuring things out soon enough, so I'm sure that this is not the last I will write about him. All I can say is that I am excited to see where things will end up him, and am standing firm that there is really something to dating younger guys...or maybe they just breed em good up in Amish Country! Either way, I'm not complaining. More to come.
LOVE!

A few things. First, I live guys that are older (ten years!!! DAMN!), so I dont see the appeal of the younger dude, but to each their own.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I remember PSU guy. Remember in Pittsburgh and the Dashboard Confessional concert? does FUTURE HUSBAND RING A BELL!!!
hahahahaha!!
I really can't come up with an explaination for my cradle robbing tendencies, but I've come to accept it. It's been working well for me so far ;) I do remember your Future Husband obsession. Was it a Dashboard or a Clarks concert? I really can't remember...probably because we were our classy selves and hammered before the concert. Good times. Remember going to get Antoons and I carried the pizza box verticle on the way home? I am so amazing!
ReplyDeletelol....Penn State really does suck! I'm rooting for Champ either way....4 years, forget about it
ReplyDeleteThanks, A. I like that you are cheering my on in my cougar conquests. Champs a good one...lets hope it stays that way!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was a Clarks concert? Who knows...All I know is it was one hell of a night:)
